The Joint Education Appropriations Subcommittee passed its base budget recommendations on Wednesday that cuts $63 Million from the current base budget. This reduction was passed as a result of the legislature requesting a 2% cut in agency base budgets by each of the 8 appropriation committees. The proposal cut concurrent enrollment, school nurses, adult education and the Sorenson Arts programs. Not to worry, though; Senator Stephenson stated he expected that these will be restored with additional WPU funds before the session ends. Additionally the Committee authorized funding of growth.
